Iowa Country Cabin Bed & Breakfast
Get away from it all! Relax in a peaceful country setting. Wander through beautiful gardens. Enjoy a cowboy-cooked meal over an open fire. Breathe in fresh country air! It is the perfect location for a countryside vacation, a romantic getaway, or a rustic hunting trip! (Denise added a fiberglass face to their 100-year-old silver maple which is named for Homer Bordan, the family Denise's parents bought the farm from in 1961.)

We feature two well-appointed rooms -- The Den and The Mine -- in our large log cabin which overlooks the rolling hills of southwestern Iowa, beautiful at any time of the year. Each room has a full bath with all linens, one queen bed and one aero bed, a sitting area and a kitchenette with coffee maker and microwave.

About two hours driving distance from Omaha, Nebraska, and conveniently located between Maryville, Missouri and Clarinda, Iowa, Iowa Country Cabin Bed & Breakfast is located five miles east of Clarinda, Iowa, on Highway 2. Turn right (south) on X Avenue. Go 1 & 3/4 miles south to 2370 X Avenue, on the left (east) side of the road.
Your Hosts
Arlan and Denise
One of our hobbies is flying. We have an Avid Plane under construction in the barn. We would love to show it to you! We sold our Grumman Cheetah (pictured on the left) and bought a Cessna together with Arlan's brother, Ron. It makes more sense for Iowa farmers to own one plane together. Many small airports have courtesy cars. We enjoy going to movies and eating at restaurants and then flying back home. Click here for more pictures of the planes.
Our planes
2008 was a summer of traveling. Our son, Andrew, and his wife, Faith, finished their graduate degrees and headed to Mali, West Africa. We were in South Carolina to celebrate Alea's 1st birthday and help them pack up. We brought their car and all their precious stuff back to our place to store until they return in December. Andrew is working for the Carter Center in the eradication of Guinea Worm. They are living in Ansongo, Mali.
We spent some time in Colorado. Our daughter Amy and husband Andy live in Fort Collins. We took a few days and went down to Durango where we rode the Narrow Gauge Railroad up to Silverton -- breathtaking. We recommend this trip! We went to the Mesa Verde National Park -- also unbelievable.
Grandma Denise traveled back to Colorado following the birth of Amy's and Andy's daughter, Jaden Marie Lucas (born August 30th). Click on the picture below to see more.
